Romania advances to the semi-finals at the UEFA EURO for the first time since 1996!

Romania pulled off the upset of the tournament, beating Italy 2-1 in a thrilling penalty shoot-out to reach the semi-finals of EURO 2024.

It was a stunning result for Romania, who had never reached the semi-finals of a major tournament before. The Romanians took an early lead through a penalty from Juventus star Florin Andone, but Italy equalised in the second half through Manchester City midfielder Jorginho. The match went to a penalty shoot-out, and Romania goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu saved two Italian penalties to send his team through to the last four.

Romania will now face Germany in the semi-finals on Wednesday, June 26. Germany are the reigning world champions and one of the favourites to win the tournament. However, Romania will be confident of causing another upset after their impressive performance against Italy.

The other semi-final will see England take on Portugal. England reached the semi-finals by beating Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter-finals, while Portugal beat Belgium 3-2.

The semi-finals and final of EURO 2024 will be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
